Blogger's Challenge #49 and two more sketch cards.

Today's Blogger's Challenge was to incorporate animals into you card. I decided to combine it with the challenge on the brand new group I am a part of called Great Swap Girls. The challenge there was to use a layout from the Occasions Mini. So my card uses the layout on page13 of the mini the card with the clock. I made my card into a standard size card though instead of the square because I hat to have brads or anything showing on the inside of the card so I needed one more layer and decided to go full size instead just for a different twist on the layout. Here is the original layout.......


And here is my card. I chose the Happy Hearts Day set for the animal part because it just does not get used enough. So here is my double challenge card.....




I had a real hard time getting a clear picture that showed all the different aspects at once. You will see the details better if you click on the picture to make it bigger. The scallops are 1/2 circle punches that are adhered to the underneath of that layer. There is 1/4 inch score marks on the plain tempting turquoise part. I had fun with this one. If I get a better picture late I will change it -- but you all know how much I hate to do things more than once so the odds are this is it! LOL!

Bright and Sweet - plus more sketch players!

Get your sunglasses on for this one! I really am a bold bright kind of gal so I love these colors but I know some of you may think they are too bright.






I am not sure where the heck this card came from, lol. I started with a completly different idea in my head and somehow this is what I got. Very strange. The lemons and limes are stamped in Green Galore and YoYo Yellow craft ink and then clear embossed. Next I brayered over them with Pink Passion and the rest of the card just emerged from there. The sentiment is from an old retired set called Faries. I will be using that soon now that I dug it from the bottom of the pile. I forgot how cute the images were.

Paper: Basic Black, Green Galore, YoYo Yellow and Whisper White Card stock
Ink: Green Galore, Yo Yo Yellow craft ink, Pink Passion, Basic Black and Real Red classic ink.

Clearly I love a Challenge

Allison over at Stampin When I Can started doing challenges and I have wanted to join in but somehow keep forgetting to do them and then next thing you know it is the next one already! So I though I would make a point to do one after she is already on number 19. Wouldn't you know when I went over to see what it was it was to use something clear on your project......I almost waited till next week, lol. But in the spirit of a challenge this is what I came up with...........





There is a lot going on on this card. It started with the paisly background being stamped in brown stazon on a piece of acetate. Since the whole image did not turn out perfect I cut to the part that looked good and this is the size I was left with. Nest I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock the same size and sponged Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue and Pretty in Pink on it in a random pattern. To attach the acetate to the card stock I added a row of six brads in the same three colors on the right hand side. The rest of the card just emerged from there. I already had the medallion sitting on my workspace from the last card so I tried to use that with the same three colors. Since the colors are soft it is hard to see them in the picture. I stamped it it twice so I could raise up a part and then added a large chocolate brad to the center. The papers and stickers are from the old retired SAB kit from last year and the rub ons are from this years SAB. And of course I finished it off with three MORE brads of the same colors in the rub on flowers! Ten brads on one card!

Ink: Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue, Pretty in Pink and Timber Brown Stazon

Paper: Regal Rose, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White card stocks and the retired stripes from last years SAB kit

Today's Color Challenge on SCS was to use Sage Shadow, Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla. What a fun combo. I have had this set over a month and have not had a chance to use it. I really like how it looks done in the two colors. I have the center popped up too.

Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge #19

Happy Memorial Day to all of you. If there are any of you that are out there stamping today here is the sketch for today! We are on week 19 already. I really hope to make some more cards with this sketch through out the week but today the garden is calling my name -- really loud too, lol.



I kept my card kind of simple this time. I so love the look of the papers in the Le Jardin paper pack and wanted to use them for a thank you card to a friend that likes elegant but simple. So this just may work. you will probably have to enlarge to see the scoring on both sides of the brads. There is also some sponging around the focal image that does not really show up too well.

Paper: So Saffrron, Basic Grey, textured Bashful Blue, and Whisper White card stock along with the papers from the Le Jardin paper pack.

To Dot or Not?

I feel a bit like Dr Suess. To dot or not to dot -- that is the question that I got. Although I seem to use dots a a lot, sometimes they do not look so hot!

So here is my card for today, I did have some time to play so I thought I would get this out of the way.......YIKES, enough of that.





This was created using the MoJo Monday sketch #38 and although I like it I wanted to add some black dots around the more mustard and the white that is just inside the red frame. What do you think??? There is so much going on already that I was afraid it would be too much but I so wanted to do it, lol! Anyway here are the deets.....

Blogger's Challenge #48 - Red White and Blue

The card in the last post was going to be my blogger's challenge card for this week but I changed my mind and decided to go the more traditional route. I also wanted to use some stamps that don't get much chance to see ink. The first card is all Stampin Up! stamps and punches.




Stamps: Classic Stars Jumbo Wheel, So Many Sayings and Headline Alphabet.

This next card was actually just created to use this ribbon I have had for a couple of years, lol.
The stamps are Studio G and Stampin Up!. The top portion is emboss resist on glossy white card stock.




And this one was just messing around with my coluzzle and a mix of Studio G and Stampin Up stamps.

I Absolutely Love it --another sketch player too!

I really am enjoying this set --So Cool! It is such a fun set to play with. I combined it with the hostess set Thanks Tons. This was such a simple card but I really like it. Actually it was going to be for tomorrow's Blogger's Challenge which is to use Red, White and Blue but I decided to go more traditional on tomorrow's post so you get to see this one now.

Mystery Image Challenge -- and More Sketch Players!

It is time to share my card for this series of Mystery Image Challenges on one of the groups I am on. This is such a fun challenge. We sign up to play and then the hostess sends us all a mystery image. We all get the same image but have no idea what it will be until we get it, and we can not post it until our partner receives it. So I can post mine now. In all honesty I don't even know who the stamp is by so if you know and feel like letting me know I will update this post.



The base of my card is Chocolate Chip followed by Apricot Appeal the the focal image which was stamped on Whisper White. I chose to cut out the insides of the area where the flowers are with my craft knife and the pop up that entire front piece with foam tape so that the Apricot Appeal would show through the cut out areas. I also popped up the front two flowers at different levels. The image is done with the pencil over maker technique. The butterfly and words are rub ons. My partner Rose was nice enough to take this picture that shows the detail a bit more. Thanks Rose, I sure hope you liked the card!

Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge #18

I woke up feeling really crummy this morning, the temperatures have dropped and it has been raining on and off for days. I so hate this type of weather, especially when I am so ready for the summer. So since it is Monday and I had to get my butt out of bed and do my Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge card I thought I would make myself a get well card, lol! Here is todays sketch........





In case you can't read the writing, it says that the white part is actually the inside of the card showing from the front. I really like this layout and have used it in the past. I am not super happy with either of my cards today but considering how I feel I thought I better just get them posted!








The first card is using my new Bella Stamp Feel Better Bella. She is really cute, for a sick person, lol! I used the Bali Breeze dp for my colors. The main card is Pumpkin Pie followed by Taken With Teal then the dp. I am using my fusion flowers for the first time. I lost them on my work space for a while! Glad to have them back they are so bright and cheery.















This card is using two Stampin Up! sets. To Have and To Hold and Together Forever. The base of the card is Chocolate Chip followed by dp from the Afternoon Tea collection and the inside is Cameo Coral. There is also a small circle of Wild Wasabi. I added a Prima to the top of the knot on the Chocolate Chip satin ribbon.










And then this is the card I made quite a while ago. It is what I used for the sketch so I thought I would re-post it here again.

Blogger's Challenge #47

This weeks Blogger's Challenge was to use the layout on page 21 of the Occasions Mini Collection. (the card with the dog) I had a hard time with the torn paper! Remember when that was all the rage and felt so "right" --- how could something that felt so right once feel so wrong now, lol! I am happy with my card though although I changed the landscape of the card I keep the rest -- including the torn paper! The base of the card is Brocade Blue followed by Chocolate Chip that has been scored every 1/4 inch using my Scor Pal. The main image is from On Eagles Wings from Our Daily Bread Designs -- as is the sentiment. I stamped the image on Whisper White in Basic Black and then colored it in with markers. Next I masked it and brayed Brocade Blue over the top and of course finished the focal image by tearing the top. It is layered on More Mustard. And finally I added a few white brads above the sentiment. Hope you like it.

I love this layout. It is so fresh and fun looking with these colors too. And what an easy card. I was a bit disappointed to find that I do not own a current cupcake stamp that I like! What the heck is up with that! Anyway, this cupcake is from one of the retired Little Layers sets. (too lazy to run to the studio to check, sorry). The sentiment stamp is from the level 1 hostess set for a friend.

Paper: Certainly Celery, Basic Black, Whisper White long with Cutie Pie and Summer Picnic dp.

Other: Scallop circle punch, regular circle punch, certainly celery ribbon, faux brads, makers, dazzling diamonds with a glue pen.

Not sure why but I had a bit of a hard time with this one. I had tons or retired or non SU stamps that would have worked but I wanted to be able to use it for my All Occasions Class tonight so I had to use current stamps. I think it is ok, it is cute and all but??? Any way the circle part is lined up in real life but no matter how many times I took the picture it looked like the blue was off center so I gave up and figured I will tell those of you who read my post that it is really not like that and the rest can just thing I meant it like that, lol.

Monday is my sister's 50th birthday! How the heck did she get so old when I am still so young?! ( My hubby will be turning 50 this year too. ) I had fun with this card. I tried to make the outside look so sweet and pretty and the WHAMO! yea your 50 inside. I hope she likes it.

This weeks challenge was to make a Mother's Day card. I have already made a bunch of them but thought that my mom loves to read so I thought I would make her one with bookmarks. This is not my best work and I think the problem is that I started with a floral theme and then after considering the bookmarks I decided to go with a few bible verses so I kind of ended up combining two themes in one and I am not sure about the outcome, but I am sure my mom will love it. That's what moms do -- love us and all we do no matter what! What a blessing that is.

Ice Ice Baby! and the last of the Sketch 15 cards.

Isn't this retired polar bear just adorable? This is another card for the technique class we did last month. It is such a simple technique and fun too. Looking at it now I realize I should have flipped it so that the oval was on the other side and the bear was looking into the card instead of off the card. Funny how once it is on the computer screen all the flaws really pop out at me, there is always something that I notice now that I did not notice before. Too bad I am such a lazy stamper, or I could go back and fix after looking at the card on the screen but by this point in the game I am DONE with this card and ready to move on to the next one. When the girls made this card they used the snowflake cuttlebug on the background blue -- another after thought, lol! I think the saying is perfect for the images and it is from the retired coffee set. The colors used are Rose Red, Regal Rose, Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue, Basic Black and watercolor paper. I also used a piece of acetate, my water brush, Stazon Black, my Nestabilities dies for the ovals and the retired sticker sheets from last year's Sell-A-Bration kits. Bloggers Challenge 46 -- Graduation Cards

Another simple card from me! This is a heartfelt one and it is going to be for my 8 year old son who so struggles with school because he is dyslexic and we just found out. He has worked so incredibly hard this year and I am sooooooooooo incredibly proud of him! It continues to be hard but I can only pray and work hard with him in hopes that he can finally find a place were he can be proud of himself too. So this is my Blogger's Challenge Card for week 45.

This one is for you! This is probably one of my favorite SU word stamps. I just got it and could not wait to use it. This was another card for the library class I did with newer stampers.
