Whachadoin' Wednesday Challenge #21- Welcome 2009
SUINKWWC21 –– Happy New Year
Another busy day for all of us. So this is pretty easy, make a card for the New Year. It can
say Happy New Year, or it can be a representation of something you wish to do in the
new year or any other interpretation you wish. Please take a minute to explain your
interpretation in the post. Thanks and may we all have a happy, safe and prosperous
New Year!
We would love to have YOU play along. You do not need to use our stamps, although if you have them why not use them? After you make you card come on back and leave us a comment with a link so we can come on over and see! Be sure to use the key word SUINKWWC21 when posting online.

Tough color challenge, now I need a hug!
Today's CC199 was
So Saffron

Yikes, I have to admit I was a bit afraid of this one but I was short on time so I just did it without really thinking about it too much. Hence a simple card, but I like it!

Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge #50
So we had some crazy wind storm yesterday that left us with no power or cable most of the day and night. Good thing we have a generator so we had heat and limited power but the computers are not on that "limited power" -- go figure, hubby thinks heat, sump pump, lights and other things are more important -- what!? Tee hee. So anyway, here is this week's sketch challenge a little late again.
I kept mine pretty simple since I was making it by candle light, lol. Really not the smartest idea with all that paper and stuff in my studio but a girl has to do what a girl has to do, right? I found this retired SU set -- Furnished with Love-- and realized I have never used it. Imagine that. So I thought this would be easy to color in the dark, lol. So here you go. I really think it is cute as simple as it is. Sometimes simple works, don't you think. There are tiny hearts embossed on the black square that don't really show up.
Stamps: Furnished with Love
Paper: Pink Pirouette, Bashful Blue, Basic Black, Whisper White and The Paper Studio Pink Armadillo paper pack with glitter
Ink: Basic Black
Other: Markers, scallop circle punch, 1 1/2 inch circle punch, cuttlebug
I hope you find time this week to play along! It is easy to add you link to Mr Linky below. So when you are done with your card come on back and add a direct link to it below and we will all come check it out!

Last weeks sketch players.
Please take a minute to show them some lovin, since they took time out of their holiday schedules to play along. Thanks so much ladies.
In case you are wondering why I am late again! We had a wind storm that knocked a tree onto the power lines so we were without power and cable most of the day and night. I am so happy it is back on now. YIPPEE! Be right back with this week's sketch.

Design Team Announcement and Sneak Peeks too!
Wow, lots going on over at Storage Units Ink and More! We have finally publicly announced the new design team. Here is the list with the new girls highlighted.
January Guest Designer Corrina Farrar www.heartfulstamping.blogspot.com
Congratulations to all of you. And thanks to all who applied, what an awesome display of art we received during our call! Incredible. The decision was SO hard.
We are also in beginning our new SNEAK PEEKS today! I get to give you one of the first glimpses of these adorable stamps that will be available on January 1st. I think these are my favorite sets yet, just adorable! I woke up early to combine my sneak peek with the featured stamper on SCS today. I chose this card to be inspired by.
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...p;ppuser=13584
I changed the colors, the oval to a circle and moved the sentiment.
What fun. I also made a matching little candy basket. I found these adorable baskets on Clarence at Hobby Lobby in the Christmas section--only fifty cents each!
Here is the card alone.
And the basket alone.
Be sure to check out the other members of the design team over the next few days to see what they made with these adorable sets. I can't wait to see! Here is the sneak peek schedule for you.

More for the Love of Birds.
Today's inspiration challenge on Splitcoaststampers was a fun one. We could choose any item from MacKenzie-Childs for inspiration I chose to use this picture for my inspiration. I was inspired by the checks, stripes and flowers together. Also the uneven tones of the colors from the paint. So fun.
Here is my card.
I just bought this pad of paper yesterday and love the colors. And I have been itching to get back to some of these stamps from Our Craft Lodge. I really like how this turned out. What do you think?

Finally! Double Gift Card Holder tutorial, TSSC50 and Blogger's challenge all in one!
I finally have something to post! This is not only my sketch challenge #50 it is also the mini tutorial I promised AND my blogger's challenge for the week! The blogger's challenge this week was simply Celebration. Well with New Years right around the corner I thought I would make a card to celebrate the new year. I kept the card pretty simple since I really wanted to focus on the directions for the double gift card holder. I sure hope you all had a fabulous Christmas. I know I did. So here is my card....
And now for the mini tutorial. Remember this is a double gift card holder.
You will begin with a full sheet of 8 1/2 by 11 card stock. Score it at 3, 5 1/2 and 8.
Be sure to fold the two outer score line in the valley direction and the inner score line in the mountain directions as shown below.
Make you you have good creases and then flip your card stock over so the middle crease is now a valley fold and add some strong adhesive (red line or in my case white line) to the edges as seen below. Be sure to stay very close to the edges so that you cards will have plenty of room to slide in and out.
Fold the middle section over so that it attaches to itself, this is what it will look like at this point. You will have a folded over flap in the center that is only attached on the edges.
For the next step I just lay the gift cards right on the fold and use my pencil to mark both sides. This keeps them centered.
Here you can see my pencil lines.
Next, use your word window punch upside down so that you can see you pencil lines. I punched it just a hair past the pencil line on the right and then again on the left hand side.
This is what it will look like, you will have a tiny piece left in the middle of the two window punches. Don't worry about that we will take care of that next.
Use your small circle punch to punch out a notch to make it easier to pull out the cards. Just line it up upside down again and center that little leftover piece in the middle.
This is what it will look like at this point.
And here is what it will look like when you have both sides done.
Add your gift cards and embellish as you please. It is so easy!
I always write a lot in my cards so I left one whole insert blank for that.
Hope you have fun with this.

What happened to this week's challenge?? Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge on Tuesday??
So I did not get to my computer at all yesterday, crazy type of day. Sort of "snowed out" instead of in. But I am home now and just have enough time to post the sketch but not my sample or tutorial yet, too much editing to do. I am so sorry it seems there is just one thing after another around here lately! I am sure you guys know how that works. Hopefully the kids have school today because I STILL need to do some Christmas shopping! Crazy! Here is the sketch for this week.
I am not making any promises on how long it will take me to get my card up today, never seems to work the way I want anyway. I will be back though. I have to spend the day at the school helping with some of the parties and stuff that have been canceled the last few days due to the storm. Hope you have more time than me and chose to play along! I really like this sketch and can't wait to see what you come up with. Add your name and direct link on Mr. Linky below.

Very late Blogger's Challenge!
So between this crazy weather, the schools being closed, the holidays and a few other things I won't bore you with I am very late with this challenge. Remember we post them on Fridays, I know it is Sunday-but as they say, better late than never. (I really HATE being late!).
The challenge was to use non-traditional colors for a Christmas card. Well it just so happens that I needed to make a few cards for our wonderful leaders on our Praise team. So why not use the blogger's challenge for these. The tricky part was that I wanted a card that would hold more than one gift card and maybe even some money AND have lots of space for everyone to sign. Plus I had only 1 hour start to finish! YIKES. I have to admit I am pretty happy with the results although they are much simpler than I probably would have made them if I had more time.
The first one is for our Leader/Piano player. I usually try to incorporate some type of fishing them to his cards but I thought this might be cute for a change. This is the cover...
There are actaully two holders in this one.
The first flap holds two Starbucks gift cards and has lots a big spot to write.
The middle between the two holders is another small spot to write.
And the bottom flap which holds cash also has a large spot to write. So we can all leave a little message.
The second one is for our main leader. She only has one flap in the middle of her's to hold two gift cards. And both sides have spots to write our messages. She collects snowmen so I tried to use those each year. There were ten of us that chipped in so there are ten snowmen!
Here are the inside shots of hers.
I used a bunch of left over stickers from an old holiday scrapbook kit on both.
Both of these gift cards holders are 8 1/2 by 3. I had to use the little clips on the bottoms to be sure the cards didn't fall out. They fit pretty good but wanted to be sure. I did not put them in envelopes, although I believe they would fit in a normal legal envelope.
I willl try to post a step by step tutorial tomorrow for these.
