This week's challenge was to use some type of resist technique. Easy right? This card almost hit the trash at least three times, and I'm really not sure it don't belong there now! It is so far from what I was thinking in my head. I wanted a simple, classy, shimmery gate fold card -- but this just is not doing it for me. I only throw away maybe 1 or 2 cards a year and this one was oh so very close to being the one for this year, lol. But due to it be summer and having a extremely full schedule with no other time to stamp today -- this is what you get, sorry.
The card is made using Shimmery White. I used my scor pal to create the gate fold - so easy! Then before I folded it I inserted each side up to the score into my cuttlebug folder --it actually lines up in the middle which is really cool. The hearts are embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder that has a tiny bit of very fine red glitter to match the baubles. They are pink with red specks. After embossing I colored the edge with Pretty in Pink marker and the center with chalk-both resist the embossed part. I also did the top and bottom edges with the Pretty in Pink marker. Here is a close up of the hearts. You can see the little specks of red glitter if you really look.
And here is a close up of the baubles although I could not get a clear picture so it is probably not gonna help, lol. The baubles have little red specks in them. They are from the Robin's Nest.
HA! You and I hit the same wall this week! I wonder how many others in the group wanted to chuck their projects...lol. Your turned out wonderful, and I'm glad you stuck with it!

ReplyDeleteMJ your card is just so pretty and feminine. I love the way you put the hearts as a closure for your card. Everything about this card is so soft. I think you did a wondeful job...
ReplyDeleteThis is really lovely, MJ. I think it's elegant with just a touch of whimsy with the pink embellies. So glad you didn't throw it away. If you don't like it, you can send it to me!

ReplyDeleteMJ this is really pretty (don't trash it). I think it has a simple elegance about it. I love all the dry embossing and the entwinded hearts. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful card! You and Lynn weren't stamping together, were you? LOL
ReplyDeleteSeriously, this is wonderful! I love everything about it!
Sometimes I think the struggle to get even a simple card done is to keep us humble!
Love the interlocking hearts and the way the CB meets on the gate fold.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty and delicate! I love the soft influence the resist gives!
ReplyDeleteSometime simple is best...I can help you throw it out -- do you want my address?
ReplyDeleteI really like this card, but it does look like it was a pain to make. What a great take on resist.

I'm glad you didn't toss it - I think it's beautiful. I guess it's true - one man's trash is another man's treasure.
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely, Mary Jo--I'm glad you didn't trash it! I love the way the hearts are placed so they interlock. That's a fantastic idea.
ReplyDeleteI like it! The baubles/dew drops are a perfect touch to add a little more color! The hearts are very elegant looking (they kind of remind me of a Valentines Doiley). The card looks great and you are silly!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday!
This is very pretty Mary Jo! I have yet to do mine. We just got back from out of town - so hopefully tomorrow! Love how yours turned out so soft and elegant! TFS!
ReplyDeleteMJ....
ReplyDeleteThis is just PERFECT!!!! I've been looking for just the right idea for an engagement announcement (since I wasn't coming up with anything on my own!) Consider this CASED. Oh, by the way....GREAT JOB!
