Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge 24

This weeks challenge is being posted at my New Summer Hours post time. My son needs to talk a summer reading class and I will not be able to post at noon for the next couple months, so I am thinking that I will actually post at night so that my readers that use a feedblitz will actually get it on Monday and not Tuesday! Then I will come back around lunch time-- little earlier or later depending on the day-- and post all the players. How is that?

I really like today's sketch. I actually make these sketches from all sorts of different things, cereal boxes, posters, labels -- and after I make them I don't look at them or think about them until the day I need to post, lol. See this way it is even a challenge for me. Honestly sometimes I open the sketch and say to myself "what the heck am I gonna do with that!" --pretty weird since I make them. Anyway as I said I did like this one and will probably use it again real soon. I had lots of ideas but went with the first one for this card. So here is the sketch.....

And now for my card. I really don't use my pretties kit enough because it is usually buried somewhere in my studio. So I have put it in the open and have been trying to use it. Hence the focal point of my card. The striped section behind the flowers is actually a clear acrylic picture frame with stripes. I thought it would be fun to use a background stamp for a change and stamp it twice so it is repeated behind the acrylic frame too. I really like it--fast and easy

Wagging my tail for another Sketch player!

This card is for the FS73 challenge on SCS. The stamper today was "chelemom" and this is the card I chose to case. I loved the layout and the idea of the button on the tag so those are the things I kept. I changed the papers, stamps and colors.

I pulled out more of those dollar stamps from JoAnn's these are Inkadinkado stamps in different wrappers! The bargain of the year! You may need to enlarge the image to read the saying.

You make me so happy ....... I could wag my tail. Too cute don't you think.

This card is created for the Featured Swapper's Challenge on Great Swap Girls. I just became a member recently and did not realize these were challenges. I thought the Featured Swapper was just a way to get to know the other swapper and I am ashamed to say that I did not read them due to time constraints. Well I found a few extra minutes and thought I would check it out and low and behold it is a challenge! You all know I love challenges so I jumped right on and plan to play each time. The Featured swapper this week was
BECKY CARAFA! She's our fearless leader and go-to gal for anything GSG!

I chose this card to case. I moved the circle image to the other side to accommodate my sentiment. Also change the stamps, colors and papers. I have to say I seen lots of great samples I wanted to case -- go check out her blog.

I found these at JoAnn's in the dollar spot -- I know they are selling for more on line everywhere. I bought them all.

I love this size card, it is 4 1/4 by 4 1/4. Such a fun size and it is so easy to make your own envelopes using a regular SU envelope. Stamin Up!'s envelopes -- you can see the great tutorial on Cindy's blog The Creative Closet. I thought it was brilliant and oh so easy!

By the way, it is raining here again for like the bazillionth day in a row -- I am gonna have to find a way to hook up sun lamps over my garden -- what the heck!

Blogger's Challenge 53

This week's challenge was to use some type of resist technique. Easy right? This card almost hit the trash at least three times, and I'm really not sure it don't belong there now! It is so far from what I was thinking in my head. I wanted a simple, classy, shimmery gate fold card -- but this just is not doing it for me. I only throw away maybe 1 or 2 cards a year and this one was oh so very close to being the one for this year, lol. But due to it be summer and having a extremely full schedule with no other time to stamp today -- this is what you get, sorry.

The card is made using Shimmery White. I used my scor pal to create the gate fold - so easy! Then before I folded it I inserted each side up to the score into my cuttlebug folder --it actually lines up in the middle which is really cool. The hearts are embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder that has a tiny bit of very fine red glitter to match the baubles. They are pink with red specks. After embossing I colored the edge with Pretty in Pink marker and the center with chalk-both resist the embossed part. I also did the top and bottom edges with the Pretty in Pink marker. Here is a close up of the hearts. You can see the little specks of red glitter if you really look.

And here is a close up of the baubles although I could not get a clear picture so it is probably not gonna help, lol. The baubles have little red specks in them. They are from the Robin's Nest.

Well, there you go -- not what I wanted but what the heck!

Mini Tutorial

Better place your order for these Carousel Notes NOW!
This project is so cute and super easy but the Carousel Notes are no longer available
after the 30th of this month.

After you place your order run to your nearest JoAnn's because I found these circle cork boards in their dollar spot and they are a perfect fit for our Carousel Notes. And they are magnets too! Too cool.

Here is a picture of the finished project -- it took longer to find the supplies in my studio than it did to make it. (this will be our club project this month so if you are a member you will get to make one.)




I am so happy with how easy this project was. Here is a list of supplies you will need.


Carousel Notes, Cork boards, 3/4 inch washers (outside diameter), 5/8 inch circle punch, 1/2 inch circle punch, Making Memories Baubles (or ones from build a brad if you can stand to use them with out the brads, lol), flat top thumb tacks, pop up glue dots, small circle stamp (I used Make it Count - hostess set), scraps of matching designer paper and a marker to make dots on the Carousel Note.

This is what the package looks like for the round cork boards.

Here is what they look like out of the package. You will need to remove the magnet and attach to the Carousel Note. I used Scotch Quick Drying glue for this part. Then add the magnet to the back of the finished project with red line tape. The magnets are strong too!

The rest of the directions are shown on the pictures. You can click on the picture to make it larger if you need to.

so I forgot the "r" in Your -- you know what I mean, lol.

I used Soft Sky prints designer paper for this part.

I finished it off with some little chocolate chip dots around the note card.
So fast and easy. Now you can use it. Cute huh?

8 is Great!

Todays SC182 on Splitcoaststampers was perfect for this layout. I was at a garage sale the other day and they had this 12 x 12 frame for $2. I snatched it right up. I have been wanting to make a scrapbook layout for the wall of some of the pictures of my son playing hockey. This is his first team, as a matter of fact this is his first team sport. He was so excited that he was able to get the number 8 since he is 8 years old. Too cute.




The picture in the center is me holding a sign that reads....

8 is great Woody Rocks!

The people that took pictures of the team happened to get this one too and the guy said you look so proud -- I said I sure am! So that is why I am in the center. The written words around the square are done on the computer. My son is going to be hanging this is his room so he don't want me to do anything to the frame -- ya know, make it too pretty, lol. I am glad he likes it.

Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge #23

Today's post is a bit early due to my son only having a half day of school. I have to pick him up at 11:30 -- and since tomorrow is the last day of school the sketch challenge will go to summer hours, lol! More details to follow-still working them out.



Today's sketch is one that offers so many options. As far as size and stamps. I could think of lots of stamps I wanted to use so to narrow down my choices I chose to combine this challenge with the Great Swap Girls Bye Bye Baby Challenge (GSC09). The challenge was to use retiring sets. So I chose two of them for my card. But first let me show you the sketch.......

And now for my card.

I chose to make my card a 4 x 9 card. I have made quite of few of these recently just for a change of pace. They are fun and fit in regular legal size envelopes. Because it is a big card it is hard to get a picture that shows details. You can click on the picture to see the larger version. And I have added a picture of the focal square here so you can see it better.

These are such standby colors for me. I just love them. I think I got this combo from the SAB scrapbook kit from 2007. That was a great kit. Here is my supply list.

A Full Year of Blogger's Challenges! Today is week 52.

Wow, time flies when you enjoy what you are doing. And I have so enjoyed being a part of the Blogger's Challenge group. Lisa is a great group leader and has been wonderful at coming up with fun ideas to keep our creative juices flowing. Thanks Lisa!

This weeks challenge was Masculine Cards. This seems to be a type of card a lot of us have trouble coming up with ideas for so it should be fun to see what the rest of the group came up with. Here is my card -- I am glad that this set is not retiring -- I am hoping for more masculine stamps in the new catalog -- I am keeping my fingers crossed (which is making it hard to type, lol)



This card took me about 15 minutes from idea to finished card. Got to love that. The layout is the MoJo Monday Challenge 42. This is my second card with this great sketch. I am calling this card my Shiny Grunge 2 card. I made one similar but different for submission to something so you will have to wait to see that one. The focal image is done on Whisper White card stock which I tore and added Tim Holts distress ink (vintage photo). I love how it turned out. The tag itself is actually from a pair of jeans I bought, I knew I could use it someday for a card so I saved it. I may have to go buy more jeans cuz this was my last tag, lol. After all any of you who read my blog or do my classes know I am a LAZY stamper and I was always afraid I would have to start over half way through due to mess ups, lol. Well fear no more!

Faux Filmstrip Technique and More Sketch Players.

Simple Faux Filmstrip Technique.

Supplies needed:
1 and 3/8 inch square punch
Spiral Punch
Strip of Black Card Stock 2 inches wide by desired length
Stamps, inks, white or light colored card stock for images

There have been many versions of this out there but this is by far the easiest way. Use your spiral punch and punch along the entire length of black card stock on both sides.

Tip: I begin at the same side both times and make it a little larger than I need. Then I trim one side. -- I do not like one side to look perfect and the other to cut off, lol. I also do this with scallops -- I always start with a partial scallop and then there is not one perfect scallop on either end and it looks better --in my opinion.

Stamp images on White/Light card stock. Using 1 and 3/8 inch square punch upside down so you can see where your image is -- punch out desired number of images. These will be a perfect fit on the black strip.

Tip: This looks really cute on a scrapbook page with pictures in the squares!

A Bright and Cheerful Hello!

Today's sketch challenge on SCS was a great one for creating a scene since the focal image spot was quite big. I used my new Artful INKables set Pond Friends to create this card. The scene is colored in using inks and blender pen. Hope you enjoy.

Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challeng #22

Did anyone else ever notice how fast Mondays come around. It seems like only a few hours ago that I posted my Friday Blogger's Challenge. It is funny that I have been doing this challenge for 22 weeks now and there has not been one single week that I have woke up on Monday ready to post! Usually I am on my first cup of coffee and remember I haven't done my card for my challenge yet, YIKES. That will have to change after next week though cuz the kids will be off school and I will be busy in the mornings -- not complaining though, I am excited to have my son home more. Anyway, on to this weeks sketch.......


It was a pretty simple sketch this week huh? And I am pretty happy with my card.




My card is using the Fairy Whimsey set from my new favorite stamp company Artful INKables. (besides SU of course) I swear I would purchase every single set they owned if I could justify and afford it, lol. I feel the same way about Our Daily Bread Designs. Two companies that have not put out a set yet that I don't like! The rest are hit or miss for me -- like some --don't like some. How about you, what is your favorite stamp company?

Inspiration Challenge

Today's Inspiration Challenge on SCS was great. There was a choice of three pictures to use and I chose to combing these two. This first picture is where I got my layout design inspiration.....



And then this picture inspired the colors of my card....

This card is a big one -- it is 4 x 9 and I left lots of room to write a personal message inside as you can see from this picture.....



What a fun challenge! I am pretty happy with my card. I added a piece of Soft Sky around the back and inside for two reasons--one to cover the acetate on the back and the other to give me a light color to write my message on.

Cuttlebug pin dot for white layers, which has the dots colored in Pixie Pink and Tempting Turquoise markers. Martha Stewart's Doily Lace punch, K&Co. felt flowers. White Brads. Markers were used for large flower and other details. I think that is is!

Mystery Image Challenge -- Justjohanna stamps

Sorry this is a re-post the last one was bombarded with spam and even though I tried to delete the comments it still left links so I deleted the whole post.





So here we are with another Mystery Image Challenge. These are so fun. On one of the private groups I belong to we sign up for these Mystery Image Challenges. The hostess for the month mails us all the same image and then we are assigned partners. It is so fun to see what everyone comes up with. The image this time was this cute cupcake from Justjohanna stamps. It actually came with a sentiment too that I chose not to use. It said Happy Birthday With Sprinkles On Top. The designer papers are from the East Coast Prep collection. Other items used: Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White, Wild Wasabi, Real Red and Basic Black card stock. White gel pen, black marker, retired star glitter, rub on words, nestabilities dies and markers for coloring.

Couple of things of interest -- at least I found them interesting.

First one is the picture, how funny is this! This is a mural that is painted on the ceiling of a smoking lounge in a hotel. I find it brilliant!

So I know I said I was gonna update the last post but since I ran into a few unexpected things yesterday and could not get back on line I really don't want to edit now. But I really do want to give you more details about the card. Click HERE to see the original post. The images are from Artful INKables. I just found them about a week or less ago and I had to order a few sets from them. They have some wonderful images that I just love. Actually there is not one stamp set that I don't like if you believe that. So this particular card is using the Fairy Whimsy set. This set is just beautiful. I love the other fairy image believe me you will be seeing more of these stamps soon! By the way, the shipping was fast, and the stamps are great quality rubber on cling foam. I am very happy with them. Other details of the card are as follows.

Stamps: Fairy Whimsy (Artful INKables)
Paper: Textured Chocolate Chip, Whisper White and two retired pieces of Certainly Celery designer paper.
Ink: Black Stazon, Certainly Celery, Rose Red, So Saffron, Apricot Appeal, Blush Blossom, Bashful Blue
Other: blender pen, paper piercer, mat pack, white gel pen, chocolate chip marker, faux brads, rub on words and a clear glitter pen.

Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge #21

Here is today sketch. I really like it and for the most part I am happy with my card, but it need a few more details fixed and I need to get a better picture. I will edit this post later, I have a doctor's appointment for a MRI and can not be late. Also my e-mail is not working so there may be more players later too. Sorry for the rush post but I didn't want you to have to wait for the sketch. So here is this weeks sketch.....

Another Sweet and Sassy 2 sketch 4 you

So I thought since I would use another Sweet and Sassy stamp set -- Owl Occasions and do the other sketch at 2 Sketches 4 You. Here is the sketch......




I decided to make the square on the front a window. And thought it would be cute to only see the owl's eyes through it. Since I wanted to use the Guess Hoo sentiment on the front.




And then the inside has the rest of the sentiment. Fun, card, but I keep thinking it needs something, I am too tired to do any more today though. Here is the inside of the card.




So there you have it -- My Sweet and Sassy sketch type of day has come to an end -- Goodnight!

New Stamps, New Blog, New Card!

That is a lot of new things! I don't know if you noticed the new item on my side bar -- the 2 sketches 4 you button. This is the new blog I am talking about. They are going to sketch 2 sketches each week and you have the week to play along. You all know I love sketch challenges and although I usually don't get to most of them --there are tons, I am thinking I will try to focus on one of these each week. So that is the New Blog. As far as new stamps --I actually just got a few from different companies. Fist off is a few new sets from Sweet and Sassy Stamps. This set is called the Bee Happy -- don't you love that daisy? Daisies are my all time favorite flower they are so simple and beautiful. So that is the new stamps and now for the new card.......





and the sketch I was using for the card.....





Stamps: Be Happy Sweet and Sassy Stamps
Paper: Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery, Whisper White and Basic Black card stock and celery prints dp.
Ink: Basic Black.
Other: markers, misc bling, gel pen, paper piercer and mat pack and scissors.

I hope to get to the other sketch later today -- if I can find time, busy day.

This first card is created using the Sketch for you to try on Jen's Blog from May 24th -- just a bit late. It is using the Butterflies a Flutter stamp from the Scrolly Bugs set.



Next was a card to use up the scraps that were left on my table. It uses the Harlequin Flowers from the Backgrounds set. I matched it up with paper and rubons from Stampin Up!


And last but not least is a sketch card done by Marti for my Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge. You can see that at her blog....
