Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge 203

So I found a new to me challenge--which I will need since I will not be doing my own challenges again--at least not for a while.  It is hard enough to just get back up and running

BTW--I am looking for challenges to play along with--what are your favorites??
Leave me a comment so I can check them out.

I still need to get 90% of my supplies from my old home.  Who knows when that will happen.  So in the mean time thank goodness for NEW SUPPLIES!  I am creating cards for my first class of my new demonstratorship which of course will have to use the new Thoughtful Branches stamp set since it is only available for a limited time.  It is amazing anyway so I am glad to play with it first.  So with all of that being said here is my card for the challenge......

I so love trees and nature!  It truly makes me feel relaxed to just sit and look at them.  Hence my reason for using them on this card--this could be a sympathy card or just for someone who is going through some hard times.  Here is the inside of the card.....

And of course I need to show you the sketch challenge too....

http://www.papercraftcrew.com/category/challenges/card-sketch/
I don't have very many--or should I say I only have two embellishments available to me at the moment--rhinestones and Linen Thread--so I had to be a bit creative with them!  Why not come over and play along--it is a fun sketch!

A couple of circle flip cards!

I finally broke down and got the circle flip card framelit so I had to make a few cards with it.  One of my favorites that I have seen all over the web is the Sesame Street characters.  I love Elmo so that is who I decided to make.  Then I made a sympathy card too.  Before I show them I should say--I was not drunk when I took these pictures although it does seem as if I might have been, lol.  I have no idea why they are crooked--but I can't take the pictures again as I no longer have the cards.  So --- it is what it is.  Sorry about that.

Isn't this Elmo the cutest thing ever?!  I love him.  So easy to make too just used a bunch of circle dies from the Circle collection of framelits.  Fun fun fun!

And then this sympathy card is really pretty in person.  Love that it has the extra flap.  Makes it seem extra special.  Don't you think.  I used the hostess set Simply Sketched for the images.

Don't know why I waited so long to get this die.  So easy and fun.  I am sure I will be sharing much more with it soon.

Here are the supplies used...the colors are Pistachio Pudding and Always Artichoke with Whisper White.  I also used markers and the border punch. Along with...
Sorry for the short -- I am exhausted. Good Night! Mary Jo

Flashback Friday!

I love digging though my older sets and finding ones that have not been used in quite a while for this fun Flashback Friday challenge!  This week i found the old Ageless Adornment set--I used to love the butterfly in this set and used it all the time--I still have a hard time reading the font for the sentiments though I think it is so pretty but too small and fine for me to read, lol.  Getting old stinks!  So I used a sentiment from the current Love and Sympathy set.

Here is a picture of the Ageless Adornment set....

I love to stamp on Crumb Cake card stock and then re-stamp a part onto Whisper White and cut it out and add it--really makes it pop!  I especially love this technique for snowmen.

Stamps: Ageless Adornment, Love and Sympathy
Paper: Crumb Cake and Whisper White
Ink: Basic Black and Crumb Cake
Other: scallop edge punch, crumb cake ribbon, embossing folder

Want to see more ideas with older sets? Check out what Nicole did for the challenge this week--remember that is who thought of this great Flashback Friday challenge to begin with--I just hopped on it with her!

Happy Friday!  The beginning of a holiday weekend--and sadly the end of Summer.

The process....

Sometimes when making a card just a subtle change can change up the whole card.  For instance today I was making a card for the SCS sketch challenge and the LNS challenge to use flowers.  My first take on the card was ok but something was wrong--so change out one thing and add one thing--both little and I like it much more.  Funny how that works.  Here is the finished card, which would be the one you would normally see on here.....

And for the fun of it--this is the original card before the two changes.

But there are mixed emotions on which is nicer--I definatly like the top one better--how about you.  I thought the flowered DP was too busy and didn't match the flowers enough.  And the bow was just to give a bit more than the plain Calypso Coral piece.

Stamps: Elements of Style, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper: Early Espresso, Lucky Limeade, Very Vanilla, Tea for Two DP
Ink: Early Espresso
Other: blender pen, markers

My 20 minutes in the craft room for the day-need to get dinner made and get ready for church tonight.
Happy today!

Monday Lunchtime Sketch 253 (TSSC253)

I am so excited to see the cards for this week--I have a clean and simple sketch which can be used for any style or them you can imagine.  I actually have two samples myself and they were both really quick and fun.  Here is this week's sketch.....

And my samples....

This first one has a matching (kind of) magnetic bookmark.  If you make a regular card base and then cut it down to a 4 1/4 inch square you have the perfect leftover piece to make these cute book marks!

And my second sample is combined with the LNS challenge this week--celebrate Spring with flowers--my dear friend just lost her mom so we are celebrating her life....

Card details:
Card One--Stamps: Rain or Shine, Bloomin Marvelous, Paper: Midnight Muse, Summer Starfruit, Print Poetry DP Pack, Whisper White Ink: Marina Mist, Summer Starfruit, Midnight Muse, Other: markers, rhinestones, magnets.
Card Two:  Stamps: Easter Blessings, Petite Pairs, Paper: Midnight Muse, Summer Starfruit, Lucky Limeade, Print Poetry DP Pack, Whisper White,  Ink: Midnight Muse, Basic Gray, Other: Markers

Quick Sympathy card.

Had a request for a few simple and fast to reproduce sympathy cards--this certainly fits that...

I let the designer paper take center stage.  Behind the With Sympathy sentiment I stamped the decorative element from the Madison Avenue Set in Saraha Sand ink then stamped right over the top in Basic Black with the sentiment from the Loving Thoughts set.  The scallop is from the Tasteful Trim Bigz XL die.  And the heart is the small heart punch with a rhinestone in the center. Quick and easy.

Stamps: Madison Avenue, Loving Thoughts
Paper; Basic Gray, Basic Black
Ink: Basic Black, Sahara Sand
Other: Tasteful Trim die, small heart punch, rhinestone, marker for edging.

TGIF!

With Sympathy.

Not my favorite cards to make--and not ones that I generally make at the time I need--I usually like to have them on hand.  With that being said my supply is low--since I like to have a variety on hand so I can pick one that fits--hence today's post.

Have you noticed that I am sooooo stuck in this color palette.  I just love it.  It certainly helps when you get the DP that matches for free--SAB is awesome!

Lot going on today so my post is short and sweet.
Stamps: Serene Silhouettes, Warmest Thoughts
Paper: Island Indigo, Pool Party, Whisper White, Sycamore Street DP
Ink: Pool Party, Island Indigo
Other: circle punch, markers, white gel pen, Honeycomb embossing folder

Happy Today!

Monday Lunchtime Sketch challenge 213 (TSSC213)

Here we go again.  And this week I have to samples for my sketch--both are for the sketch challenge and another challenge too.  Let's start with the sketch...

Looks like a pretty simple one to me--can't wait to see your take on it!  Here is mine...

The first card is also for a challenge to use only neutral colors...

And the second card is also for the Latenightstamper's challenge which is an inspiration challenge this week, using this photo..
I know my blue is way off but I couldn't find a current blue that matched.  So I  just went with one that I like.  It is such a different feel though.  Oh well, that is the wonderful thing about inspiration challenges--you can not do them wrong!  So HA!  it works!

Now for your sample for the sketch this week.  Remember to LINK THE SPECIFIC POST THAT CONTAINS THE SAMPLE NOT YOUR WHOLE BLOG!  Thanks so much.  Hope you have a wonderful week!

Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge 210! (TSSC210)

Yea, here we go with another week, can't believe we are at the end of February already--time is going at super speed lately--so sad.  Any way the good thing about a new week is that it brings lots of new challenges including my sketch challenge!  Here is this weeks sketch...

I think it is going to be a pretty easy one--what do you think?  I actually made two cards for my samples this week!  And I combined both with the new Latenightstamper's challenge for the week which is

GO GREEN
use any shade of green on your projects this week!
Again this should be a super easy challenge.

My first card uses Pear Pizzaz, such a pretty green. I  love it combined with Poppy Parade and this new hostess stamp set Up in the Air!

For my second sample I chose to use some greens that I have not used in quite a long time
Garden Green and Wild Wasabi. It is so weird how different Wild Wasabi looks when layered on Garden Green, although I couldn't get the best picture--colors was never just right.

I hope that my samples have inspired you to play along this week!
Here are the details for the cards above.

Card 1
Stamps: Up in the Air, petite pairs
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Poppy Parade, Whisper White, Pear Pizazz dp
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Other: markers, hearts embossing folder, Edgelits Dies, circle punches

Card 2
Stamps: Fresh Vintage, Creative Elements, Blessings from Heaven
Paper: Wild Wasabi, Garden Green, Whisper White
Ink: Wild Wasabi, Garden Green,  Poppy Parade
Other: pearls, tulip border embossing folder, stripes embossing folder, pearls.

Your turn!  Can't wait to see what you create--come on back and add it to the linky blog hop below!  If you add the code to your blog while in HTML mode you can have your readers play along too--right from your blog!
Thanks so much for visiting today!
Happy Monday.

Same but different!

I am loving this new stamp set Apothecary Art.  It is really easy to work with especially if you have the matching die set.  I am enjoying the smaller size image mixed with the butterfly embosslit.  I think it is really pretty, don't you?  Here are two sample cards with it.  The first one also uses today's sketch challenge on Splitcoaststampers!  Been ages since I hopped on over there to see what was going on.  Fun sketch.

As you can probably tell I unfortunately am in need of some sympathy cards.  I really love both of these color combos and think the butterflies are great with that framed image.

Card 1
Stamps:  Thoughts and Prayers, Apothecary Art
Paper: Soft Suede, Very Vanilla Everyday Enchantment DP, Poppy Parade dp for butterfly
Ink: Soft Suede, Poppy Parade
Other: framelits Labels collection, Adorning Accents embossing folder, markers, sponges, pearls, butterfly embosslit

Card 2
Stamps: Apothecary Art
Paper: Marina Mist, Soft Suede, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White

Happy Hump Day!  My favorite day of the week--next to Sunday.

Playing catch up--Latenightstamper's and Blogger's challenge

I was so busy getting the new tutorial ready that I fell behind.  It would have been all good if my stinking computer would cooperate with me.  More than halfway though the tutorial I lost everything--it would not let me open it no way no how without freezing up my whole computer so I had to start all over!  Yikes.  Anyway it is done and it is up and you can see it here if you wish.  But for the matter at hand.  I am playing catch up with a few challenges.  This week on Latenightstampers the theme is to make sympathy cards and the theme of the Blogger's challenge this week was to use patterned paper.  So I pulled out my one sheet wonder tutorial and used 1/3 of it to create these three cards.

All three cards were made using 1/3 of a sheet of designer paper and two sheets of Pear Pizazz card stock along with a few scraps of Whisper White and some ribbon.  The stamp set used is Thanks for Caring from the new Occasions Mini.  Would love to have you play along with either of these challenges.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

More coming soon.  And all for only $2 each!

I am finally able to play along with the Blogger's Challenge.  I have been missing quite a few lately but I have added it to my goals to be consistent again!  I love doing them but my schedule changed and I forget to do it early in the week so I am ready on time.  Be sure to check what the other players are doing by clicking HERE.

This week Lisa gave us a color challenge.  Green, Yellow and Brown.  Ohhh, love this.  I chose to use Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizazz and Chocolate Chip.  I also combined it with the MoJo sketch challenge.  Another one I don't often get to play since it is on the same day as my sketch challenge and the LNS challenge that I do.  Here is the sketch

I decided to go with a simple sympathy card.  Nothing too fancy just  pretty and to the point.

I used the new sympathy set from the current mini Thanks for Caring.  Such a nice stamp set.

Stamps: Thanks for Caring
Paper: Daffodil Delight, Whisper White, Chocolate Chip and In color DP paper pack
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Other: Stampin Write Markers, brads, nestabilities

Hope you have a great day!
