Feathered Friends I am thankful for you!

I love birds!  I have a bunch of feeders in my yard right outside by kitchen window and I could sit there and watch them for hours.  Especially this time of year--there are no leaves on the trees so you can see them sitting and flying around EVERYWHERE!  That is the best.  Funny that they always seem so happy.  Singing and fluttering around.  I honestly love them!

So when I checked in to see what today's challenge was on Splitcoaststampers I was happy to see that it was a challenge to use birds!  Yea.  Might as well combine that with some fun flowers and happy colors--right?!    If you want to play along here is the challenge CAS468

Another card with sketch TSSC85--I'm going batty!

Today's Technique Lovers Challenge was Masked Frames. What a fun technique. I originally seen it in the Technique Junkies Newsletter but never tried it out--till now. How fun. I double masked the focal section to get the layered look. You can see directions on how to do this HERE. You can see my original sketch HERE.

This card is for three different challenges, first it is the SC212 on SCS, and the SUINKWWC 24 inspiration challenge, and then today's WT202 pattern pizazz challenge too. I added the words to the striped dp, embossed and added dots in matching colors to the strip dp. Fun challenges- all three of them.

And then as I was looking at the scraps of Really Rust card stock left over from the Top Note die I thought the scrap piece looked like a beard so that is where this lucky little guy came from. His eyes are pretty freaky IMO!

I kept the layout but changed the stamps and colors and added layers. And there is no stamping on this card!

Happy Birthday -- FS101

For those of you who follow my blog you know I love bright colored birthday cards and this is definitely one for that category! This is also for the featured stamper challenge on SCS. I chose this card for my inspiration. I changed the colors, stamps, centered the focal image, changed out the circle for the ribbon. And used my Top Note die again! So Many Challenges--So Little Time

I have been working on some challenges the last few days but haven't posted them here so here they are The first one is for the Technique Lover's Challenge on SCS. This week's challenge was called Tacky Glitter. I tried some chunky star glitter. Fun but way messy. As an after thought I added a silver star brad over the silver colored star on the big star. (didn't re-take the picture though).

The next one is for today's color challenge on SCS. Today's colors were tough! They were Pumpkin Pie, Garden Green and Brilliant Blue. Now I love Pumpkin Pie and Brilliant Blue but when you add that Garden Green you scae me! that is one of those colors I just never liked. But it worked on this card--kinda, lol.

Today's inspiration challenge on Splitcoaststampers was a fun one. We could choose any item from MacKenzie-Childs for inspiration I chose to use this picture for my inspiration. I was inspired by the checks, stripes and flowers together. Also the uneven tones of the colors from the paint. So fun.

The Ways to use it challenge was the perfect finishing touch to this fun card. I love these colors and this card to me is just stunning. This is going to be a bit of a long post. I am playing catch up with a few challenges that need to be posted. First is this week's Blogger's Challenge, this was due on Friday but I had a rough weekend so I am late. The challenge was to create two cards using either the same stamps or the same layout--hence, the theme- same but different. I actually chose to case a layout from a great card I received from a swap. I loved the layout so I thought why not. The card I cased is posted at the end for your viewing enjoyment. The first card is using the SUINK stamp set Deer Ol Santa. It is my favorite non Christian stamp set this year. It has a bunch of adorable reindeer and other images too.

The featured stamper was Wendy Bell and this is th card I chose -- HERE. I also got to use the brand new Slice die cutter I bought yesterday. The corner element, frames and words are all cut with the Slice. Quick easy and compact. Not to mention nicely priced.

The technique lover's challenge today was to create on of these medallions with corner punches. How fun. I only have the one corner punch that I was able to use but I am very happy with the results. What do you think? I am way tired so I will update this with more details at another time.

FS90 (not so) SpeedyStamper

This was for today's featured stamper challenge on SCS. This weeks stamper was Kay K aka SpeedyStamper. What fun gallery to check out. That is what I really love about the feature stamper challenge, it gets me in gallery I may not have seen before.

I really love the colors in the Holiday Treasures paper. And I was determined to make this big ribbon work with the card that took me forever! I am not really sure how well it "works" but it is on there in a semi pleasing way, lol.


Here is the card I chose to case Delight in Life.

Stamps: Season of Joy

Ink: Ruby Red Accessories: wide ribbon, large grad, 5 petal flower punch, lots of pearls

Bread Box Mini Tutorial.

Here it is, the easy as peasy bread box. I had a bunch of requests for this so here it is. You can see the original box HERE. As long as I needed to make another one I thought I would combine it with the WT189 challenge on SCS. The challenge was to use one word on the front of your creation. So I chose Welcome. I always loved these retired papers and thought it would be a great time to use up some. Here is the finished box.




You will need to start with a piece of 8 1/2 by 11 card stock. I chose Chocolate Chip textured card stock for this one. If you are using the scor-pal you will need to line up each side at the 3/4 inch mark and then score at 3 1/2. Do this on all four sides. See picture below. If you are using a different method to score you need to score all four sides at 2 and 3/4 inches.

Next you will move the card stock over to the edge and score all four sides at 1/2 inch. This is the measurement with or without the scor-pal.




Now you will need to grab your scissors or cutting blade and the two short sides on the 2 and 3/4 score lines up to the 2 and 3/4 score line in the other direction. Then you will cut of the little tab on all four corners. See picture so you know what I mean.



Next you will use your bone folder and fold over all score line so that they are nice and crisp. If you want to use a edge punch or decorative scissors this would be the time. I chose not to do it on this one but did on the original. You would be decorating the four 1/2 inch scored pieces that you did not cut off. I then added designer paper to the four sides of the box. Notice that I added stickers to the 1/2 inch scored pieces on this one so they need to be on the opposite side as the designer paper. See photo.




Now all that is left to do is to fold, attach (I used sticky strip) and decorate.

Whachadoin' Wednesday Challenge #11

Ever have one of those days? I was on the phone with Denise from Storage Units Ink and More having a smooth fairly easy morning and then WHAMO! First I got a call from a friend her daughter was sick and school and she asked if I could go pick her up. No problem, I can finish my challenge later -- after all a sick kid is more important. Then in my rush out the door I set my camera someplace so that the cat, dogs, hubby and son wouldn't knock it over. And you guessed it, it took me all afternoon to remember where the heck that safe place was, lol! And then Blogger is giving me a hard time. I have been trying to post for over 1 hr now, it keeps telling me it don't like my Html codes???? Whatever! YIKES, so I am a bit late with this. I hope you will help me make up for it by participating in the challenge this week. (shameless I know, lol)

SUINKWWC11 -- Treats for our Sweets!

Do you still need a last minute treat holder for Halloween? Already done with that, how about a special treat for a loved one. Could be cookies, candy, cupcake any type of sweet treat and a creative way to present it.

So here is my sweet treat. Some fresh made Pumpkin bread for a friend. I made the little box from Core'dinations card stock. It was oh so easy. The rest is pretty self explanatory. If you want to know how to make the box let me know. If enough people want to know I will do a tutorial but it really is just a basic box.
