Retiring soon--Mixed Drinks

Here is another quick and cute card using the retiring set Mixed Drinks.  I just recently got this set--before the retirement list came out--so glad I did as it is great for so many of the guys in my life.

I used the mirrored image technique to make the two mugs face the opposite directions.  Seemed to make more sense for the clinking of the mugs.    There are many different ways to  do this technique but I chose to stamp the image on a clear block with black ink and the use that block to stamp the  image onto the card stock.  A little bit of fussy  cutting--which really was not too fussy with these images--and I have a fun card to celebrate a variety of different events!

I really think this stamp sets has so many possibilities!  So if you like it--you need to get it soon before it retires.  You can click the image above and use the monthly hostess code to order or you can just message me if that is easier.  This month's hostess code is JHVNUAWP

(all orders placed with the hostess code or via e-mail or personal message  this month  will receive a FREE copy of the NEW catalog and other freebies too--so be sure to use the code or send that order to me directly for the extra perks!)

Use up those Scraps--High Tide

If you are like me you have tons of small scraps laying around your craft room from other projects.  so I decided to just try to use a few of them up.  This is such a common size scrap for me.  1/2 inch strips laying everywhere!

I am limited to what stamps I have that are still current--at least until that big brown truck shows up!  I have lots of them coming.  So in the mean time I was thrilled to see that High Tide was still on the current list.  Love light houses and they are great for either male or female cards so that is always a plus too!

And this was just a super easy card--but I think it is pretty cool looking.  Different--which for me is ALWAYS good.

I may even use this as one of the card for my next class.  Perfect for that--quick, easy and mailable--all good for class cards.  I am excited to get classes going again.  If you are local be sure to let me know if you are interested in my class schedule.  I will begin newsletters again soon too.

So good to be back!
Hope you have a great night.

Make It Mail-able Monday week 2

Decided to make a masculine birthday card for today!  It actually matches the newest tutorial that will be coming out tomorrow!  So if you were to purchase that tutorial you would have an extra card for a total of 7 cards using the same limited supplies!  More about that later...Let's focus on today's card shall we?

I used the new stamp set High Tide from the Occasions Mini and the Happy Birthday sentiment from Designer Tee from the Sale-A-Bration catalog.  I also used the paper pack Sending Love--all supplies can be purchased at the end of the post if you are at all interested!

  • The base of the card is Basic Black Cardstock the is 8 1/2" by 5 1/2" that is folded in half to create card base.
  • The next layer from the bottom up is a 4 3/4" by 3 1/2"  piece of Basic Gray Cardstock.
  • On the bottom 3" of this layer, I added two strips of Real Red Cardstock alternated with two strips of striped designer paper from the Sending Love paper pack.  Each of these strips is cut to 7/8" by 3".
  • Next, I added a strip of Basic Black Cardstock that is 3 1/2" by 3/4" over the top edge of the previous strips.  See picture above for clarification.  This entire element is attached to the front of the card base.
  • Now you will want to stamp the lighthouse onto a 1 3/4" square of Whisper White Cardstock. The base image is stamped with Smoky Slate ink and the top part of the image is stamped with Real Red.  Add the light streaming from the lighthouse with Daffodil Delight ink.
  • Layer this element onto a Basic Black square that is 1 7/8".  Add to the upper right-hand side of the Basic Gray layer as shown above.
  • Finish off this card by stamping the Happy Birthday sentiment in Black ink onto a small scrap of Real Red Cardstock and cut out.  Add to front of the card as shown above.  Simple and cute!  Great masculine card.  Here is the inside of the card....

The inside is very simple and I did not add an inside sentiment as I tend to like to write mine and this was actually created for someone particular.  The Whisper White Cardstock is 3 3/4" by 5" and the birds are stamped in Black ink.  The strip of designer paper is 3/4" by 3 3/4"

I hope you enjoyed today's card.  Here is a little sneak peek of the new tutorial that will be available sometime tomorrow.

This tutorial will have six more cards using the same supplies I used for today's card.  And as always it will be available for only $3--affordable ideas for your stamping time.

Here is the supply list for today's card.....

Welcome to this month's blog hop for the Remarkably Create Team!
This month's theme is Out with the Old and in with the New!

We are finishing off the Holiday Catalog and getting ready to start our brand new Occasions catalog along with the Awesome Sale-A-Bration event too!  You know what that is right?!  For every $50 you spend on product during Sale-A-Bration you get to choose an item of your choice from the Sale-A-Bration Catalog!  The best time of the Stampin Up! year.  So that was the goal -- to mix up the Holiday Catalog with the New Catalogs.  I needed a masculine birthday card for a friend who is a hunter and thought this would be the time to create it!  I actually used products from the Holiday Catalog--the Sale-A-Bration Catalog--- the Spring Catalog and the Annual Catalog too!  Here is my sample.....

and here is the inside of the card...

The Holiday Catalog is still available until Jan. 3rd.

Try Stamping on Tuesday with a Twist!

Today's challenge is of course the sketch challenge but also with an added twist of Well Worn--I was excited to see that as the twist as I just got the new single stamp Look Up To Father and wanted to use it--worked out perfect!  Here is my card...

I had so much fun with this--I love distressing cards but don't do it that often.  The base is Baked Brown Sugar, then I used a piece of the Wood grain Natural Composition Specialty paper ans added some Baked Brown Sugar ink with a sponge.  I added the ink to the ribbon too and frayed the ends before attaching with brads (been a long time since I used those.  The image is stamped in Baked Brown Sugar on Very Vanilla and cut out with the ovals framelits.  Again I sponged ink on the endges.  All the the edges were distressed with out distressing tool.  The sentiment and brads candy dots along the side finished it off!  Hope you enjoy.  Here is the sketch to play along with us

The twist (if you choose to use it) is WELL WORN.

Have a great day!

Flashback Friday!

I know I missed a couple week's of this but here I am back on schedule again!  Summer is really good at changing your schedule unexpectedly.  But that is soooooo ok with me because that means I am spending time with my son--before you know it he will be off on his own and I will have plenty of time alone to stamp, lol!

Remember Flashback Friday is my opportunity to pull out some of those older retired Stampin Up! sets that just don't get used enough. This week I have a masculine card for you using the retired set Pines.  I freshened it up a bit with some new colors!

Pretty unexpected color comb huh?  Coastal Cabana, Baked Brown Sugar, Early Espresso and Very Vanilla.

Here is a view of the whole set....

The set is from 1998 and it is great for masculine cards, scrapbooks, Christmas cards etc.

Card details:
Stamps: Pines, Banner Greetings
Paper: Coastal Cabana, Baked Brown Sugar, Early Espresso and Very Vanilla.

Ink: Baked Brown Sugar, Early Espresso
Other: circle framelits, candy dots

Want to see more ideas with older sets? Check out what Nicole did for the challenge this week--remember that is who thought of this great Flashback Friday challenge to begin with--I just hopped on it with her!

TGIF!
