Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge 330 (TSSC330)

Monday again already!  Time flies when the weather is nice!  Hope  you are enjoying your days around you too -- good or bad weather -- life is good!  Hope you find time to play along with the challenge this week--I know it is going to be a good week--with lots of fabulous samples!  Here is the sketch.....

I really thing it is going to be a great one.  My card is pretty easy as I just got home from a weekend away for a rugby championship with my son.  Great fun!  But didn't quite leave me with much time to create tonight, so I went directly to my butterflies as I don't think you can EVER go wrong with them!  Mixed in a few new in colors and I am loving it.

Stamps: Papillon Potpourri, Love and Sympathy, A Dozen Thoughts
Paper: Lost Lagoon, Hello Honey, Whisper White and Sahara Sand,Moonlight Paper Pack
Ink: Lost Lagoon, Sahara Sand
Other: butterfly punches, rhinestones,

Now for the AMAZING design team samples....

Those are just so fun and all so different!  Love that! Now it is your turn to play along.
But be sure to come on back after and link up your card to the linky tool below.  Here are some basic rules for the challenge....
  1. You have a full week to play along!
  2. Create a new card using the sketch as your inspiration.
  3. Use any products you choose.
  4. Add your card to your blog or other on-line spot and link back to this challenge.
  5. Come back here and add a direct link to your sample for the challenge and NOT you home page of your blog--people will not look for your challenge card--trust me.
  6. And this one is not really a rule but a request--get rid of that word verification!  It makes it hard for us to comment on your samples.  It is easier for you to delete the spam then for us to jump through tons of hoops to comment.  If your put your comments on moderation you do not have to worry about spam--you will have the option to delete it BEFORE it ever goes on your blog so you will ALWAYS be safe!
  7. Have fun and tell you friends to play too!

Try Stamping on Tuesday!

We have a fun sketch for you this week on the Try Stamping On Tuesday blog.

When I first looked at the sketch I was a bit confused with what I wanted to do so I walked over to my work table and the first thing I seen was the beautiful DP from the Tea For Two paper pack and knew I wanted to use the rose paper and go from there--the rest of the card just kind of had a mind of it's own and it just evolved without much thought at all.  When I was done and looked back at the sketch I seen that I totally left off the ribbon-darn--so I cut a really thin strip of the Lucky Limeade card stock and added it to the left side as though it was ribbon.  The bow broke a few times but I was finally able to make it work.  I actually like how the card turned out--what do yo think?

I made sure to make it a birthday card so that it also fits the LNS challenge for the week--birthdays.  My son's birthday was on the seventh and mine is coming up this Saturday so that is what spurred the birthday challenge.

Stamps: Itty Bitty Banners, Papillion Potpourri
Paper: Soft Suede, Lucky Limeade, Calypso Coral, Very Vanilla, DP from the Tea For Two paper pack
Ink: Soft Suede, Lucky Limeade
Other: scallop edge punch, banner dies, small butterfly punch

Hope you day is filled with happiness--thanks for stopping by.

90 years old!

Got a call from my mom today asking for a special card for a friend of her's that is turning 90!  I was meeting her in an hour and still had to shower so I am thankful that I was able to pull of this card with plenty of time.  Got the love the stamps with matching dies.  Sure hope her friend enjoys the card.

The 90th is really straight in real life--it is on clear strips of transparency and they were wobbling around when I snapped the picture.  I used my sizzix to make the card--making it fit the Blogger's Challenge for this week (use die cuts or an electronic die cutting machine)--90th is cut twice and one is attached on each side of the transparency strips (1/4 by 3 strips of transparency).  Such a simple and sweet way to add a bit of EXTRA fun to a card.  I didn't think to get a picture of how it was inserted in the center.  But I have an extra piece of Soft Suede--5 1/2 by 3.  With the 3 inch side at the top of your score board, you would score from top to bottom at 1, 1 1/2, 2, 1 1/2 and 3 inch marks.  Then just fold back and forth to form a center section to hold the strips of transparency with the letters/numbers on it.   The one inch pieces are put under the vanilla inserts.  The other 1/2 inch section are holding the transparency and pop up parts--if it is requested I can make another one with a tutorial.

Stamps: Apothecary Art, Loving Thoughts, Paillon Potpourri
Paper: Soft Suede, Tea for Two DP, Calypso Coral
Ink: Soft Suede
Other: markers, Crochet Trim,  small butterfly punch, framelits, MDS, sizzlet alphabet (non SU)

Have a great weekend.

Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge 249 (TSSC249)

I am thrilled to be back to hosting my sketch challenge again.  I am also so happy with the crazy incredible talent of my new team--I am sure you agree that they are fabulous.  And of course so are you guys--my readers and those who play along.  I so appreciate you all! Hope you have time to play along this week--and tell your friends to play too!

A few quick rules to playing

  • New sketch is posted each Monday morning and you have an entire week to play along.
  • Top three will be picked on Monday morning as well and will be posted before the new sketch
  • Be sure to link directly to your card and not just to the home page of your blog--people will not take the time to look and you will not get any nice comments that way.
  • You can play along as many times as you want. So if you love the sketch why not use it a few times and link each of them.

So now for this week's sketch...

Here is my cards--I have two cards for you.  The first one uses these cute little apples--you do know that this darling canning set is still current and can still be purchased right?!  The sentiment is long retired though--sad face.
Stamps: Perfectly Preserved, retired sentiment
Paper: Real Red, Lucky Limeade, Whisper White, Tea For Two DP
Ink: Real Red, Lucky Limeade
Other: Vine Stree Embossing folder, framelits, Lucky Limeade ribbon

And the second one is not only for my sketch challenge but also for the LNS challenge to use blue as your main color and the Paper Players to make a Sympathy card and the CAS206 on Splitcoaststampers.

Stamps: Loving Thoughts, Papillon Potpourri
Paper: Marina Mist DP and Card Stock, Whsiper White, Basic Black, Bashful Blue
Ink: Basic Black, Marina Mist
Other: border tape, ribbon, circle punch, butterfly punch, Markers
Now for the rest of the team....

Can you even believe how awesome all those samples are--bet you can't wait to get your fingers inky and join us, so get busy stamping and come on back and share with us on the linky tool below!
Thanks, Mary Jo

Take note.

Isn't this just the sweetest little note holder? I made the little note paper on the MDS and the box was really easy too. If you are a regular follower of my blog you know that I love butterflies so this is perfect for my desk. It was one of the club projects for last month. The girls really enjoyed it. I made them each some sheets of the note paper with their names on them. Fun project.  I used the tutorial found HERE.

Hope you week is going well, mine has been crazy busy.

Cleaning off my scraps for the LNS challenge.

Hey all!  Hope you are doing well today.  I went to work on my challenge cards for the LNS challenge this week (paper piercing) and decided to make the challenge harder by only using the scraps and pieces of paper that were within my arms reach--left overs from the last few cards.  I must say, it did make it a bit harder since some of the pieces were pretty small--but there were enough bigger ones to made do.  I made two cards and neither of them are my normal types but I may like them--not sure yet, ask me in the morning when I look at them again.  No time for that now, need to get them posted since Wednesday is my posting day!  So here you go......

The piercing on the first one is done on the Soft Suede label, I used the new piercing template to pierce the oval on the label.  The second on is around the edge and for the flight of the butterfly!  This is the first time I used this new Stippled Blossoms stamp set, really turns out pretty.

Card one supplies:
Stamps: Just Believe
Paper: Midnight Muse, Soft Suede, Summer Starfruit, Very Vanilla, Pool Party and Comfort Cafe dp
Ink: Soft Suede
Other: rhinestones, Essentials Paper Piercing Pack Decorative Label punch, Bitty Banners Framelits, Curly Label punch, Little Leaves Sizzlit

Card Two Supplies:
Stamps: Stippled Blossoms, Papillon Potpourri, Just Believe
Paper: Primrose Petals, Raspberry Ripple, Whisper White
Ink: Primrose Petals, Raspberry Ripple, Basic Black
Other: ribbon, paper piercier, Adorning Accents Folders

Happy Wednesday!

Paper: Tangerine Tango, Baja Breeze, Whisper White and Floral District DP
Ink: Tangerine Tango, Rich Razzleberry
Other: Itty Bitty Banners dies, butterfly punch, embossing folder

So glad to finally have this done!  Hope you find time to play along too!

LNS challenge for this week.

I know, I know--I still haven't made a card for MY OWN sketch challenge yet. But I wanted to share these with you and they fit the LNS challenge for this week to add a insect to our samples. We have a brand new butterfly stamp at Stampin Up! so I bet you guys knew it would be the first set I used with my new catalog order! I love this set with the matching punch. Of course you know I love ANY butterfly set. I made a bunch of these this morning for part of the teacher gifts for my son's teachers. I gave them all the colors and a matching pen and of course some chocolate! I don't have a pick of the whole boxed up set at the moment, but I will in a day or so. I think it will be our club project for this month. Love the new dotted paper too.

I also used the three new embossing folders from the new catalog.  Love them all!  If you click on the picture it will be bigger so you can see the embossed backgrounds better.

Hope your week is going well, hope to have my sketch challenge done tomorrow--today was the last day of school so had to use my stampin time to make teacher gifts.  So last minute!
