Ink, Basic Black
Other: Markers, paper piercer and mat pack, circle punch and scallop circle punch, both sizes of the oval punch and wide Rose ribbon.

Techno Take-Out Giveaway!

Here is it FINALLY! Sorry for the delay in posting this. And the delay in doing a Techno Take-Out. I missed a lot of opportunities to do it -- like 100,000 hits and other things too but it is a good one so it should make up for it, lol! If you visit my blog much you are quite aware of my love for our Lord and you are also aware of this new stamp company that I am so happy to support. Kelley at Our Daily Bread Designs is not only bringing us some beautiful Christian stamps to uplift our loved ones with but she has wonderful customer service too! There are only three sets in her line so far and I own ALL THREE! I will get some more samples made up for you but in the mean time be sure to take a look at her site and the design team samples -- they ROCK!

So good news for you -- there was a slight mix up in my last order and I accidentally received two of this set. And Kelley said to just keep it -- now I know I could have given it to a friend or I guess I could have even sold it but I thought she was so sweet to tell me to keep it that I should share with one of you lucky readers! I hope that you will all check out her site and support her in her new endeavor. The stamps are high quality and greatly priced! Here is the set that you can win.....

All you have to do to win is comment on this post telling me how you are celebrating Mother's day this year by Sunday May 4th at midnight (EST). I will post the winner before the next Monday Lunchtime sketch challenge!

Remember to check back to see if you won!

Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge #15

As usual the weekend went by way too fast so I am a bit relieved that I was able to create my card for this week's sketch in less than 15 minutes from start to finish! You have to love those types of cards. And it is really pretty as simple as it is.

Here is the sketch..

I told you it was an easy one this week. I actually made two cards but I will post my other one later, I have not had a minute to get a picture of it yet. Now for my card. I had to flip the sketch on its side to accommodate this beautiful stamp set from Our Daily Bread Designs. This is one of her newest sets called First Holy Communion. It is just beautiful! And the really really really good news is that I am going to be giving someone this set for FREE! Yep, I have an extra one that I will be giving away as Techno Takeout -- watch for my post later today!

Isn't this card so pretty even though it is so simple. I stamped the image first in Pale Plum and then stamped the words over the top in Perfect Plum. Just beautiful and so perfect for Communion cards and well as others too.

Other supplies used: cuttlebug background, nestabilities dies and half pearls.

I need to post a bit early today because I have to be somewhere at noon so we only have two players at the moment but they are both inspiring. I will post my other card along with the Techno-Takeout later today -- and any other players that my have missed my early deadline.

Last few for Luchtimetime Sketch Challenge #14

Here are the last few for sketch Challenge 14. I will be back at about 11:45 with today's challenge. That is a bit early but I have a appointment at noon so if I get more submissions after that I will re-post later in the day. Thanks.

Bloggers Challenge 44

I have to say that I just love the spring and summer months! Warm weather makes me so HAPPY! I really dislike snow and cold so I have been in my glory the last few weeks. And yesterday I got my fishing license so that I can fish with my son. We have so much fun fishing together and what a cheap day out. We pack a picnic lunch and go near a park -- fish, talk, play, eat -- what more can you ask for! Anyway today is Friday and of course that means Blogger's Challenge day. This weeks challenge was a color challenge -- Chocolate Chip, Brocade Blue, So Saffron and Certainly Celery. Cool combo you should give it a shot! So since I am in the mood for fishing I thought I would use my new Whipper Snapper Worm stamp. Isn't he adorable?

The main image is stamped on watercolor paper and colored in using my pads and water brush. The sentiment is from the Stampin Up! Bugs and Kisses set--I only used a part of the sentiment. The rest is pretty self explanatory -- I think?!?

Stamps Used: Whipper Snapper party worm, SU Bugs and Kisses
Ink: Timber Brown Stazon, Chocolate Chip, Brocade Blue, So Saffron and Certainly Celery
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Brocade Blue, So Saffron, Certainly Celery, retired Wintergreen dp and watercolor paper
Other: Brocade Brads, Chocolate Chip ribbon, circle punches, scallop circle punch, nestabilities dies. water brush, markers, sponge and lots of dimensionals!

I sure hope everyone has a wonderful Friday and an even better weekend!

Reuse, Reduce and Recycle

I have had this idea in my head for a few weeks and finally was pushed to make it by todays Ways to Use it Challenge on SCS. The Challenge was to use scissors in different ways. I used the scissors to curl the ribbons and cut out the stars. This was really a fun project but the colored M&M's are NOT cheap! Just a warning, lol. Here is a picture of the centerpiece alone.

Here is a before and after. As you can see I used an empty Fuze bottle! These bottles are great for this type of project because the label peels off easy the the numbers on the bottle come off really easy with nail polish remover. The bottles are pretty too!

And then I was playing around with one of my photoshop programs to see if I could make a type of collage of the close up pictures. I think I made them too small though???

Stamps: In the Stars and the jumbo star wheel
Paper: Whisper White and Real Red
Ink: Night of Navy
Techniques: ribbons, markers, rub ons, scissors, circle punch and lots of M&M's

Woof! -- Like Aloha -- More sketch 14 cards too!

Don't you think that Woof must be like Aloha and mean both Hello and Goodbye?? Or maybe it means I'm Hungry -- guess we will never know for sure, lol. This card is another try at the color challenge from yesterday and the sketch challenge for today on SCS. I tried out a new stamp set my son picked out for me. It is called Dogs and it is from Inkadinkado stamps. Cute set.

Stamps: Inkadinkado Dogs
Paper: Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White
Ink: Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery and Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Nestabilities, cuttlebug, markers

Always in my Heart --and more Sketch Challenge 14 cards

It has been a while since I have found time to participate in a SCS challenge so I am gonna try to do a few this week -- even it I have to get up at some ridiculously early hour to get the time! I figured while I was at the color challenge I may as well do a sketch challenge too so I headed over to Julee's to try one of her MoJo Monday sketch challenges. I love the layout -- what do you think. I may have over did the dots -- or maybe under did, lol -- I can't decide. But here it is none the less.

Stamps: Always, Spring Solitude
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink, Whisper White
Ink: Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery and Chocolate Chip
Accessories: wide satin chocolate chip ribbon, nestabilities, cuttlebug, celery ribbon, brads, markers

Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge #14

We are just coming off our Spring Break here and it is always so hard for me to send my son back to school after having a week with him! It is even harder to him, lol. We had a great time and we were very fortunate to have wonderful weather. But now it is back to the daily grind! So as we begin another week at least we have the new sketch challenge to look forward to. I really enjoy seeing all the creations that you guys come up with for these sketches. This week is easy peasy! So if you have never played along before this is a great week to start! All you need to do is create a card using my sketch and post a comment on my blog with a link to your card. That is it! I will post your link for everyone else to view too. And you do not need a blog to play -- you can upload to any online site you want. So let's see what you can come up with. Here is the sketch.

And now for my card. I had fun with this one. I used the mirror image technique to make the two birds from the one bird in the Pun Fun stamp set.

I was pretty pleased with how it turned out. They are holding a cupcake from the retired set Figures of Speech. The little birds on the bottom corner are from another retired set called Love Ya Bunches. (they need to see ink once in a while too ya know)

Supplies used
Stamps: Pun Fun, Love Ya Bunches, Figures of Speech
Ink: Basic Black
Paper: Bashful Blue, Basic Black, So Saffron, Whisper White
Other: markers, cuttlebug, nestabilities, striped ribbon and acetate

Hope you enjoy. You are sure to enjoy these wonderful cards done by my stamping friends.

Awards and Tags

Let me start this post by saying I so appreciate that people award me with this blog awards and I am so sorry that I do not respond in a timely manner -- I know you read this same sort of thing with the last one. I feel bad for the people that award/tag me but I feel even worse for the people I pick -- most don't play along anyway and then I feel even worse for nominating them and putting them in the position to "pick favorites" or find someone to tag/award. So with this said I am gonna thank the people that sent it to me and offer it up to any of my readers that choose to play along. The rules are here for you -- let me know if you do so I can link up to you. Thanks and have a great day.'

So a big thank you to all of these bloggers. All of these ladies have wonderful blogs that are well worth taking the time to browse.

The first award is the Arte y Pico Award
I was given this award by Shar at Ill Tempered Ink and Patty at Patty Stamps

Here's how it works:
You pick five blogs that you consider deserve this award for their creativity, design, interesting material and also contribute to the blogging community. List the names of the people you chose to receive the award on your blog and link to their blogs. Then let your award winners know by posting a comment on their blog. Each award winner has to show the award and put the name of the person who gave them the award and link to their blog. You also need to show the link to the Arte y pico blog to show the origin of this award.

The next award is the You Make My Day Award -- I was awarded this by Jill at Stampin In His Name

Here are the rules:In order to display this 'You Make My Day Award' proudly on your blog you must re-present it to 10 people whose blogs bring you happiness and inspiration and make you feel happy about blog land. Let them know through email or by posting a comment on their blog so they can pass it on. Beware, you may get the award several times yourself, and if you do, consider yourself really, really loved. Thanks Jill, I am feeling the love baby!

And finally I was tagged by Karen at Krafting with Karen and here are the rules for that one.

Okay, here are the rules
1. Link to the person that tagged you and leave a comment on their Blog.
2. Post the rules on your Blog.
3. Share 7 random facts about yourself on your Blog
4. Tag 7 random people, linking to their Blog.

I guess I can think of seven more random things about me.

1. I once did mud wrestling and jello wrestling -- many years ago!

2. I love to garden and be outside -- as long as it is warm out -- I could hibernate all winter if anyone would let me.

3. I am not very athletic -- although I do try -- hence the big bruise on my butt from the parent vs child hockey game I played yesterday with my son and his team.

4. I have two dogs, one cat and one ball python snake -- YIKES! No wonder I can never keep this house clean and that is not even mentioning the very messy hubby or child -- NEVER ending!

5. I cannot function (well maybe I can -- but I choose not to) without coffee!

6. I don't like to wear shoes on my feet, I love to be bare footed as often as possible.

7. I am the coordinator of our local CROP hunger walk.

Ok -- that is the best I can do on half a cup of coffee -- remember if you play let me know so that I can link up to you.

Final cards for Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge #13

Bloggers Challenge 43--with a tutorial too!

This weeks challenge was to use chipboard. I am not a big user of this so I thought I should start early for a change --- so Wednesday night I started a chipboard PB&J Journal. I have been wanting to do this for a while but have not gotten around to it -- well guess what --it is not done, as a matter of fact it is barely started, lol. For those of you who are wondering what a PB&J Journal might be -- it is something I made up -- P standing for Pray for others, B - standing for be a blessing to someone and J standing for Be more like Jesus or WWJD. I want to have a way of keeping try of these three areas so that I can look back and see how I am doing and give thanks when it is due! But you will have to wait to see that because as I said it is NOT done! So again you get my 6 am version of the challenge! The good news is that I had done a tutorial on this technique-- that I kind of made up -- as one of my first posts about 7 months ago when I started this blog so I am reposting the tutorial and older samples on this post too. Give it a try it is pretty fun!

Today's card is for all of those brave souls that are putting their life on the line each and every moment for US! They are truly heroes and I thank them and pray for the daily, I hope you do too.

I wanted the soldier to be a faint image in the background -- I think it looks pretty neat. What do you think? Here is the re-post of the tutorial and my other two cards.........

MJ's SURPRISE TECHNIQUE

Many years ago I saw a technique similar to this in a magazine. This is not the exact technique but my rendition since I have long ago discarded that magazine. I am not sure what to call the technique. Maybe MJ's surprise? Whatever you call it it is a great way to use chip board pieces. In my samples I used my Sizzix machine and cut from cardboard.

OK, lets see how this goes. Be patient since it is my first time at this.

Supplies needed: dye inks, coordinating A2 sized card stock in light color, tissue paper slightly larger than A2 size, Modge Podge, chipboard shapes, paint brush, background stamp or wheel that coordinates with chipboard and paper cutter.

Use either background stamp or wheel to create design on tissue paper.

Be sure to cover an area that is bigger than your A2 sized card stock. Set this aside.

Randomly attach your chipboard pieces to your A2 card stock.

Cover card stock and chipboard with light to medium coat of Modge Podge.

Lay you decorated tissue paper over the top of this and smooth out lines. Use a light touch.

Apply another coat of Modge Podge over the top of your tissue paper. Be sure to get the tissue to adhere to the edges of your chipboard. The tissue will get very tacky as you do this so do not touch too much or it will rip. After you are satisfied with the way your tissue paper is laying set it aside to dry.

Be sure to put is somewhere that it will not stick. If you leave it on the paper you used when applying the Modge Podge it will stick to the paper. I put mine on top of the bottle to dry.

After it dries, trim to desired size and attach to finished card.

Here is another card using this technique. For this one I used pretty in pink for the A2 sized card stock. The tissue paper is stamped with Well Worn Words in Regal Rose. I then Layered it on Rose Red and then back to Regal Rose. Other items used: hodgepodge hardware and rhinestone brads .

Here is a close up of the chipboard pieces.

Check this out! It is a wonderful tribute to mothers everywhere!

You guys have to see this card! I don't often get this excited over a card but I really think this is the most brilliant idea that has been perfectly created! Check it out here -- better get a cup of coffee or something because once you enter Lauren's blog you could spend days there -- she is incredible.

Teacher Appreciation -- more sketch cards.

Can you even believe how fast this school year is flying by. We are already focusing on Teacher Appreciation Luncheons at our school! So of course the first set that came to mind was the Tart and Tangy set from the Occasions mini. This is such a cute and fun set.

I created this card using the flap fold and a few different sets. I think it turned out really cute and it is so simple.

Stamp Sets:
Tart and Tangy, For Father (isn't that the perfect sentiment for a teacher card), Enjoy Every Moment for the Thank You

Paper: Summer picnic, Real Red, Old Olive and Whisper White

Ink: Basic Black

Other: markers, circle punch, scallop circle punch, Old Olive polly twill ribbon

And now for today's sketch players. Don't forget to get me your card using this weeks sketch before 12 EST on Monday in order to have a link added for all to check out!

Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge #13

Ya know, my son is just learning about superstitions and I almost didn't have a sketch 13 -- I was gonna skip since it is supposed to be unlucky -- but then I thought about my Christian beliefs and what I am trying to teach my son and we are not to believe in superstitions but only in our Lord and Savior so here is sketch number 13!

As I mentioned in my last post this sketch is an easy one -- but for some reason it gave me difficulty! I did come up with two card although I am not SUPER happy with either -- I am not SUPER unhappy either, lol.

My first card is a bit different and I probably would have liked it more in different colors but I was trying to use up paper scraps and I was determined to make these papers work!

I think the part that is really throwing me off is the ugly green stems -- but as I said I really wanted to use that brown scrap and could not stamp or draw stems that would show up on there besides I wanted them 3d to go along with the flowers. This next picture shows the flowers a bit closer.

I will definitely be making these again! They were so easy and they really are adorable in real life. They are made from the big flower in the Doodle This set. Stamp the flower on your desired paper and cut out. Next I added a large circle foam adhesive dot to the back center. I took the paper of both sides of the dimensional -- one side stuck to the middle of the back of the flower and the other side was used to hold the tips of the flower when I folded them back. I used the Three for you punch to add the mini brown flower to the top. Bend in the petals a bit to give them the shape you want. I finished mine off with the white faux brads in the center. Very cute and very easy! The stems of the flowers are pipe cleaners that I stole form my son's craft stuff.

Supplies used:
Paper: Chocolate Chip and Whisper White card stock. Cute Pie and Fall Flowers (I think) dp.
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Stamps: Doodle This and Just Like You
Other: ugly green pipe cleaners, large and small oval punch, faux brads, Three For You punch.

The next card was a quick one! I wanted to use my new cuttlebug folder so this was the perfect layout and stamps set to use with it.

Supplies:

Stamps: Spring Solitude bundle
Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, More Mustard and Very Vanilla card stock
Ink: More Mustard, Old Olive and Blue Bayou
Other: old olive twill, cuttlebug embossing folder, markers

Now for a few other players in today's sketch. We are a bit light on participants this week due to spring break but all of the samples are amazing and will certainly inspire you -- check them out........

Lisa has not missed one of my sketches yet and all of her cards are amazing!
Thanks for that Lisa, I love ya.

Pat at the Technique Trail

believe it or not - the queen of techniques made a card without using any techniques!
And it is good too!

Kim at Kim's Basement Stamping

Kim made not one but two cards this week - both nice and springy!

Charlotte at Charlotte's Web

Each and every time I type Charlottee's blog I am amazed at what a perfect name that is. Just brilliant as is her card this week.

Claudia at Stamping in Columbus GA

Another ambitious player with two cards this week and both are great!

Last of the Sketch #12 cards -- maybe.

I may have a couple more in the next couple of days from my friends that went to a stamping get together at Cape Cod without me! WHAHHHHAAAAAA! I was supposed to go but had to pull out because of my son's hockey schedule for this weekend. He had 3 games in three days! YIKES. The good news is they tied two and won one! It was fun to watch and he did great so I certainly have no regrets. Anyway, I don't want to post their cards without their permission. So here is the last card for the last sketch.

Stacy at Stacy's Stamp and Scrap Loft

Thanks Stacy! I will be back really soon with this weeks sketch. It is an easy one -- which is hard for me, lol! Hope you will play along!

Mystery Image Challenge -- Hambo stamps

How cute is this little duck from Hambo Stamps. I just got it for a Mystery Image swap. These are a riot -- one of the members hosts and send everyone the same mystery image. Then we need to create a card for our partner with the image. I am enjoying it because this is an area I have had a hard time with in the past. Not the image part but using something that is already stamped -- you know it is harder to add to it or to change the image but it is not impossible. We did get more than one of the image so I was able to paper piece his beak and feet and pop them up on dimensionals! Although my first look at the duck seem sad - and I was going to use some time of sad sentiment such as "Waddle I do with out you" but thought I would use this one from Sweet and Sassy Stamps instead " I knew you wouldn't Quack under pressure." I needed a few thank you cards for some people who worked hard on a project for me at my church and this really just fit!

Supplies used:

Stamp Hambo Stamps and Sweet and Sassy Pond Pals
Paper: Pumpkin Pie, Certainly Celery, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White and misc scraps of dp
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Black
Other, dimensionals, silver hodgepodge, markers, paper piercer, Nestabilities dies, designer label punch

Thanks for stopping by today -- hope you have a WONDERFUL weekend. Get some ink on your fingers.

Triangle Box Gift Card Holder Tutorial

Sorry for the delay on this. It just wasn't working as well as I had planned. Hope it makes sense. I started with a 9 x 9 piece of card stock -- the designer paper may not be thick enough but I did not try -- YET! The first thing is to score at 3 and 6 on both sides so you will have 9 equal squares.

Next you will need to trim away the four outer corners -- you need to leave a 1/4 inch over hang on one side. You can see this in the next few photos -- you may want to look at the photos first so that this part will make sense. The over hang does not need to be straight or even -- no need to measure because it will be cut off again as we move along.

This next photo shows how you need to angle the cut toward the middle square.

Then you can cut the other side directly on the score. This next photo shows what that side will look like after you have done both corner pieces.

Now you need to do the same thing to the other side. Look at next two photos for details.

This is what you will have after both sides are done -- so far so good?

Now I laid it back on the score pal and made a little mark at the 4 1/2 spot. This is the center of the middle square. Notice that this is done on the sides with the extra hang over.

This part may be easier with a ruler although I found it quite easy on the Scor Pal. I lined up the center mark and the lower corner and made score lines on both sides To form the triangle sides of the box.

In this next picture you can see the score line better.

After you have done this to both sides you will need to trim off the excess card stock -- again you will need to leave about a 1/4 inch lip or over hang to apply your sticky strip adhesive to. I drew a pencil line on the side that is not cut just to show you what I am taking about - for all you visual stampers!

Here is what you box will look like at this point. You are oh so close to being done already.

Fold all of your score lines.

Again, this is what you have at this point.

Now I chose the piece for my lid/top. In this picture I used the one of the scraps that were cut of the corner -- you need a piece that is 2 x 3. I did end up changing my mind and using the dp from last years SAB kit for the lid because I wanted a contrasting piece. After decided what you will use for you lid/cover you will need to put a score line done the middle of it at the 1 inch mark.

I chose now to decide how to embellish. I attached all of my embellishments before going to the next part.

Now you will need to use sticky strip or some other strong adhesive on the edges.

Simply fold up your box and attach being careful to keep it even on the edges.

This is what you box will look before attaching the lid.

Now all you have to do is attach the lid on one side and some velcro or other type of closer on the front.

The gift card will just fit and stick up enough to grab it. I added some candies in my second box before attaching just for a little something extra.

Pretty simple huh? I would love to see your samples with this -- it really is a quick and easy project -- don't let the number of pictures make you think it is hard I think I over did the pictures, lol.
