Sorry for the delay on this. It just wasn't working as well as I had planned. Hope it makes sense. I started with a 9 x 9 piece of card stock -- the designer paper may not be thick enough but I did not try -- YET! The first thing is to score at 3 and 6 on both sides so you will have 9 equal squares.
Next you will need to trim away the four outer corners -- you need to leave a 1/4 inch over hang on one side. You can see this in the next few photos -- you may want to look at the photos first so that this part will make sense. The over hang does not need to be straight or even -- no need to measure because it will be cut off again as we move along.
This next photo shows how you need to angle the cut toward the middle square.
Then you can cut the other side directly on the score. This next photo shows what that side will look like after you have done both corner pieces.
Now you need to do the same thing to the other side. Look at next two photos for details.
This is what you will have after both sides are done -- so far so good?
Now I laid it back on the score pal and made a little mark at the 4 1/2 spot. This is the center of the middle square. Notice that this is done on the sides with the extra hang over.
This part may be easier with a ruler although I found it quite easy on the Scor Pal. I lined up the center mark and the lower corner and made score lines on both sides To form the triangle sides of the box.
In this next picture you can see the score line better.
After you have done this to both sides you will need to trim off the excess card stock -- again you will need to leave about a 1/4 inch lip or over hang to apply your sticky strip adhesive to. I drew a pencil line on the side that is not cut just to show you what I am taking about - for all you visual stampers!
Here is what you box will look like at this point. You are oh so close to being done already.
Fold all of your score lines.
Again, this is what you have at this point.
Now I chose the piece for my lid/top. In this picture I used the one of the scraps that were cut of the corner -- you need a piece that is 2 x 3. I did end up changing my mind and using the dp from last years SAB kit for the lid because I wanted a contrasting piece. After decided what you will use for you lid/cover you will need to put a score line done the middle of it at the 1 inch mark.
I chose now to decide how to embellish. I attached all of my embellishments before going to the next part.
Now you will need to use sticky strip or some other strong adhesive on the edges.
Simply fold up your box and attach being careful to keep it even on the edges.
This is what you box will look before attaching the lid.
Now all you have to do is attach the lid on one side and some velcro or other type of closer on the front.
The gift card will just fit and stick up enough to grab it. I added some candies in my second box before attaching just for a little something extra.
Pretty simple huh? I would love to see your samples with this -- it really is a quick and easy project -- don't let the number of pictures make you think it is hard I think I over did the pictures, lol.
